U.S. Indo-Pacific Commander Samuel J. Paparo in Nepal

KATHMANDU :
During his visit to Nepal, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, the four-star Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), is scheduled to hold a meeting with Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
There is a natural public interest in ensuring that Nepal–U.S. relations remain cordial, balanced, and based on mutual respect, within the framework of democracy and the Constitution.
However, at a time when the country is experiencing an election atmosphere, many are closely observing this high-level visit with interest and curiosity. Concerns have also been expressed at various levels about whether the electoral environment could be influenced or diverted in other directions. Therefore, there is a general expectation that all activities remain within the boundaries of democratic values, national sovereignty, and transparency.
Nepal has always stood for peace, coexistence, and mutual respect. Guided by the principles of non-alignment, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, Nepal has consistently upheld the belief that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
