Nepali communist leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has stated that efforts are currently underway to polarize leftist forces in the country.

While addressing the first central committee meeting of the student wing affiliated with his party, ANNFSU (All Nepal National Free Students’ Union), Nepal emphasized that the polarization of leftist forces is necessary to resolve the country’s ongoing economic, political, and social crises.

He remarked that the people still retain trust in communist parties and expressed the view that unity among leftist forces who are principled and committed to the people is essential. He stressed that leftist forces must unite to steer the country’s politics in the right direction.

The former Prime Minister further stated that in order to institutionalize change, priorities must be given to good governance, employment, and people-oriented service delivery.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the recent filing of a case against him in connection with the land exchange involving Patanjali, he noted that the decision was made 12 years ago as a policy-level decision by the Council of Ministers and that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had already shelved the matter. He claimed the current case is a result of political conspiracy.

Accusing certain forces of trying to weaken his party and make things politically difficult for him, Nepal expressed confidence that he would receive justice from the court.

“I have never taken even a single rupee in bribes in my life,” said Chairman Nepal, adding, “If the party wants to relieve me of my duties because a case has been filed against me, I am ready to accept that.” He affirmed that he has the courage to build a party and is determined to face challenges and move forward.
