Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued yet another controversial warning—this time suggesting the revocation of American citizenship from actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, a long-time critic and rival.

This comes after similar remarks made by Trump in reference to Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, and Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic candidate for New York City mayor. However, legal experts have pointed out that a decades-old ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court clearly prohibits the government from stripping someone of their citizenship in such a manner.

“Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interest of our great country. I’m seriously considering stripping her of her citizenship,” Trump wrote in a social media post on Saturday.

O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland in January, became the latest target of Trump’s public ire. “If Ireland wants her, she should stay there,” he added.

Trump and O’Donnell have publicly clashed for years, dating back to well before Trump’s political rise. Their feud has remained intensely personal and bitter.

In recent days, O’Donnell has taken to social media to criticize Trump and his administration’s latest actions, particularly the Republican-backed major tax cuts and spending reduction plans.

Trump had earlier issued similar threats toward Elon Musk, his former advisor and one-time ally. However, O’Donnell’s case is significantly different from Musk’s, as she was born in the United States and is, therefore, a natural-born citizen protected by the U.S. Constitution.

According to the U.S. State Department, American citizenship—whether by birth or naturalization—can only be relinquished voluntarily and through specific legal steps taken with the intention of renouncing it.
