US President Trump Signals Tariffs of up to 250% on Medicines

US President Donald Trump has indicated that tariffs on pharmaceutical products could reach up to 250% in the coming days.
According to news agency AFP, he is also preparing to impose new tariffs on foreign semiconductor materials.
In a television interview, President Trump said that in the first phase, a small tariff rate would be imposed on medicines, but within the next one to one and a half years, the rate could rise to 150%, and in subsequent phases, it could reach up to 250%.
Meanwhile, President Trump also stated that there are plans to significantly increase import tariffs on India. He cited India’s purchase of crude oil from Russia as the reason for this move.
The report mentioned that the President hinted the decision could be implemented within a few hours. In April 2025, the Trump administration had already imposed a basic tariff of 10% on most trading partners.
Earlier, President Trump had also imposed a 50% tariff on imported iron and aluminum.
