Kathmandu: Israel and Iran have announced a temporary halt to military operations, while warning that any violation of the ceasefire would trigger a strong response from both sides.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that military action has been suspended for now, but emphasized that the conflict with Iran and Hezbollah is not over. Meanwhile, the Iranian military also confirmed that it has halted its operations temporarily, warning that any future Israeli attack would be met with a harsher and more destructive response.

The recent escalation began after Iran launched missile strikes toward Israel in retaliation for an attack in Beirut. In response, Israel carried out airstrikes targeting military installations inside Iran, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

Amid growing international concern, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu and urged him to refrain from further military action. Speaking to the BBC, Trump claimed that Netanyahu had respected his request and suggested that both sides were moving closer to a potential peace agreement.

Trump also publicly called on Israel and Iran to immediately cease hostilities and exercise restraint in order to support ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing lasting peace.

Although the ceasefire has eased tensions for the time being, analysts caution that the situation remains fragile. With both sides maintaining strong warnings against any further aggression, concerns persist that the conflict could reignite if diplomatic efforts fail.

The international community has continued to urge restraint and dialogue, emphasizing that a negotiated settlement remains the most effective path toward regional stability.
