Chinese Embassy Donates Ambulance to Overseas Friendship International Hospital

Kathmandu : Representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal have handed over a state-of-the-art ambulance to Overseas Friendship International Hospital, located in Golkuphakha, Thamel, Kathmandu, in a move aimed at strengthening emergency healthcare and rescue services.
The ambulance was formally handed over during a special ceremony held at the hospital premises, where embassy officials presented the vehicle’s keys to the hospital management.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the Chinese Embassy commended the hospital for its continued contribution to providing timely medical services to Chinese nationals residing in Nepal, international tourists, and members of the local community. They expressed confidence that the newly donated ambulance would enhance the effectiveness of emergency rescue operations, consular protection services, and urgent medical care.
Overseas Friendship International Hospital has been delivering healthcare services to local residents, foreign visitors, and expatriates from various countries living in Nepal for the past four years.
According to hospital officials, the addition of the new ambulance will significantly strengthen emergency response and patient transportation services. The facility is expected to play a vital role in ensuring the safe and rapid transfer of patients to hospital care, particularly following air rescue operations.
The hospital also serves as a volunteer unit supporting the consular protection efforts of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. It has played a key role in treating patients rescued from high-altitude regions, including those suffering from altitude-related illnesses, stroke, severe pneumonia, and other complex medical conditions. Hospital authorities stated that, in coordination with the embassy, dozens of consular assistance and rescue missions have been successfully carried out to date.
The ceremony was attended by hospital executives, medical professionals, healthcare workers, representatives of the Chinese Embassy, and officials from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Nepal–China cooperation in the healthcare sector and continuing collaborative initiatives in the future.
