New Delhi, India — Security around the Indian Parliament was significantly reinforced on Monday after protesters participating in the Crores Janata Party (CJP)-led ‘Chalo Parliament’ march advanced toward the Parliament complex during the opening day of the Monsoon Session.

According to India Today, tensions escalated when demonstrators attempted to breach police barricades near Parliament. In response, security personnel fired tear gas shells and carried out a baton charge to disperse the crowd and prevent protesters from entering the restricted area.

The protest unfolded while Parliament was in session, creating heightened security concerns both inside and outside the legislative complex. The parliamentary proceedings were later adjourned amid the ongoing demonstrations.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was reported to have departed the Parliament premises as security agencies intensified precautionary measures.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, with additional security forces deployed to maintain order in the high-security zone.
