Kathmandu: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has directed party leaders and cadres to immediately mobilize for rescue, relief and humanitarian assistance in Rasuwa and other areas affected by flooding.
Prachanda issued the directive through social media after a major flood entered the Bhote Koshi River from the Tibetan side on Wednesday morning. He urged party members to coordinate with local authorities and support efforts to make rescue and relief operations more effective in the affected areas.
“I direct the entire party rank and file of the Nepali Communist Party to immediately engage in rescue, relief and humanitarian services in the affected areas and coordinate with the local administration,” Prachanda said.
Emphasizing that protecting citizens’ lives must be the top priority during a disaster, Prachanda called on the federal, provincial and local governments, security agencies, political parties, civil society and the general public to work together to strengthen rescue, relief and humanitarian assistance.
He also urged residents in riverbank areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan to remain highly alert, stay in safe locations and follow instructions issued by the local administration and security agencies, citing the possibility of rising risks in the areas.
