Kathmandu — The United States has begun delivering emergency relief supplies requested by the Government of Nepal to support people affected by the recent flooding in Rasuwa. The assistance is being coordinated with the Government of Nepal to ensure that essential supplies reach communities most in need.

On Saturday, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom dispatched the first shipment of emergency relief supplies from the United States to flood-affected Nepalis. The shipment includes more than 2.5 metric tonnes of food supplies, 500 blankets, 500 mosquito nets and 500 insulating foam sheets to provide temporary shelter flooring.

The relief materials will be delivered to two school locations in Rasuwa by Catholic Relief Services, working through its implementing partner, Caritas Nepal. The supplies are intended to support people who have been affected by the flooding and are currently in need of essential humanitarian assistance.

The U.S. Embassy in Nepal is continuing close coordination with the Government of Nepal, Catholic Relief Services and Caritas Nepal to prepare and deliver subsequent shipments. The United States has stated that future assistance will be aligned with Nepal’s identified needs to ensure that relief reaches the people and communities most affected by the disaster.
