Kathmandu — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Mao Ming at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday afternoon. The discussions focused on the loss of life, property and infrastructure caused by the recent floods in the Bhotekoshi River.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mao expressed sorrow over the damage caused by the Bhotekoshi floods and said China stood firmly with Nepal during the difficult period. He said China was ready to provide necessary assistance to Nepal, from search and rescue operations to reconstruction efforts.

Ambassador Mao said China had already been providing essential human resources and technical support, including rescue personnel and DNA experts, following the disaster. He added that China would continue such assistance in the coming days based on Nepal’s needs.

RSP Chair Lamichhane expressed gratitude for China’s support to Nepal during times of disaster. He said China’s economic and technical assistance in disaster risk reduction and management had been important for Nepal, particularly in responding to emergencies and strengthening preparedness.

Lamichhane also stressed the need for greater cooperation between Nepal and China in disaster management, risk reduction and post-disaster reconstruction. He urged China to further expand its support in these areas. The meeting also covered the latest situation following the disaster, as well as relief, rescue and reconstruction efforts.
