GNN, Kathmandu — WWF Nepal has handed over NPR 15 million to Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary to support the government’s immediate response and recovery efforts for communities affected by the recent floods.

The contribution was made on the occasion of National Conservation Day during the National Conservation Forum organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The latest contribution follows WWF Nepal’s earlier donation of NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The amount was handed over to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle several weeks ago.

Dr. Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Representative of WWF Nepal, said the organization remains focused on people-centred conservation and environmental impact assessment, but the scale of the current emergency required an immediate response.

“Flood-affected communities remain cut off, with roads and connections severely damaged. This fund supports the government’s immediate efforts to restore access and reconnect these communities,” Gurung said.

He emphasized that the contribution represents a short-term emergency response, while WWF Nepal’s long-term priorities remain focused on rehabilitating national parks, strengthening Environmental Impact Assessments and building lasting conservation and climate resilience.

The contribution comes amid ongoing government efforts to restore transportation links and essential services in areas affected by severe flooding and related disasters.
