Pastor Bimal Kumar Thapa Appointed Diaspora Coordinator at Federation of National Christian Nepal

GNN, Nepal — The Federation of National Christian Nepal (FNCN) has appointed Pastor Bimal Kumar Thapa as its Diaspora Coordinator, entrusting him with the responsibility of strengthening coordination, cooperation and institutional relations with Nepali Christian communities around the world.
Thapa, a permanent resident of Mechinagar Municipality in Jhapa District, currently serves as a pastor at Him-I-Lay Glorious Church Hong Kong . His appointment comes as part of the Federation’s efforts to establish stronger institutional links with Nepali Christian communities living abroad and to facilitate their engagement with the FNCN.
The FNCN Central Secretariat had decided last week to dissolve all previously formed teams responsible for diaspora affairs. Following the decision, Thapa was appointed to lead the Federation’s diaspora coordination under the new organisational structure, FNCN spokesperson Chet Kumar Shrestha said.
The Federation said the new arrangement is intended to bring Nepali Christian communities from different countries into a more coordinated institutional framework and to facilitate communication with individuals and organisations seeking to work in partnership with the FNCN.
Thapa was formally presented with his appointment letter at an event held on Monday at a hotel in Koteshwor, Kathmandu. The appointment letter was handed over to him by Devraj Gurung, General Secretary of the Hong Kong Christian Council, in the presence of representatives associated with the Federation.

According to the appointment decision, Thapa will be responsible for advancing coordination and cooperation in the diaspora in accordance with the FNCN’s objectives, policies and programmes. His term of office will be two years.
The FNCN has also entrusted Thapa with facilitating the necessary process for recommending individuals from Nepali Christian communities in different countries who wish to affiliate with the Federation and represent it in their respective countries. The Federation expects the new arrangement to strengthen its institutional presence and coordination network internationally.
Thapa also serves as a senior official of the Hong Kong Christian Council. The FNCN said his experience and established relationships within the international Christian community would contribute to strengthening unity, cooperation and coordination among Nepali Christians worldwide.
With his new responsibility, Thapa is expected to prioritise connecting Nepali Christian communities in different countries with the FNCN’s institutional structure and facilitating greater cooperation between diaspora communities and the Federation in Nepal.
