GNN, ROME: Pope Leo XIV has been admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome for surgery to remove a nodule in his lung, according to a statement from the Vatican on Tuesday.

The procedure is scheduled to take place later in the afternoon under the leadership of Dr. Stefano Margaritora, the hospital’s chief thoracic surgeon. The medical team is expected to carry out the operation to remove the abnormal growth detected in the Pope’s lung.
